Bardia Kabirifar is a photographer based between Montreal, Canada and Tehran, Iran. He was born and grew up in Tehran before moving to Italy to continue his studies in engineering. Later, he moved to Canada where he spent his time between Vancouver and Montreal. Bardia holds Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Bologna and PhD degree from the University of British Columbia.
After working in the engineering industry for a couple of years, he decided to leave his engineering career and pursue photography as a mean to contribute to his topics of interest and to express himself better. His photography often revolves around nature conservation, cultural conservation, and social concerns. His work is dedicated to native communities, local and minority cultures, community challenges, wildlife behaviour, and nature-human interaction.
In 2024, Bardia was selected for the Canon Student Development Program as well as the Hamburg Portfolio Review. Later that year, he was named the winner of the Tokyo International Foto Award for his project on loneliness and life challenges of Iranian truck drivers living in Georgia. In 2025, his project on the conservation efforts of the Kichwa indigenous community in Ecuador was shortlisted for the Siena International Photo Awards.
