Matsigenkas of Peruvian Amazon
The Matsigenka people are one of the indigenous communities of Peruvian Amazon. They live in Cusco, Ucayali, and Madre de dios regions with around 20,000 members. Their language, which has around 6,000 native speakers, belongs to the family of Arawakan languages and has various dialects including upper Urubamba, lower Urubamba, and the one of Manu region.
