Living across the southern part of Zagros mountains, Qashqai people form one of the oldest and largest tribes in Iran. Despite the lack of concrete theory about the origin of the Qashqai tribe, most scholars believe that they first moved from central Asia to the Caucasus during Mongol invasions (13th century) and later during16th century relocated to southern Persia. This also explains the belongingness of Qashqai language to Turkic language family which is originated in central Asia. Qashqai is a tribal confederation comprising 6 major tribes including Amale, Dareshuri, Major and Minor Kashkuli, Farsimadan, and Sheshboluki.
